Diablo 4 U4GM: Etna's Lost Dagger Rogue Build Tips

When Rogue players start hunting for upgrades, they usually end up chasing the same handful of items, but Etna's Lost Dagger keeps popping up for a reason. It's a weapon that rewards clean damage mixing, and if you've been sorting through Diablo 4 runes or build notes while planning a Season 14 Rogue, this one is hard to ignore. It fits that fast, sharp playstyle people like on Rogue, where you want your hits to matter and your setup to feel active instead of clunky.

Why Etna's Lost Dagger stands out

The dagger is Rogue-only, so that already narrows the field. Its Unique Power asks you to deal two different kinds of Non-Physical damage, then it pays you back by boosting both Imbuement Skill Potency and Non-Physical damage for a short window. It also makes Basic Skills Imbueable, which sounds simple enough, but in practice it opens up a lot of little tricks. You can weave in skills you'd normally treat as filler and suddenly they're part of the engine. That's the kind of thing Rogue players love, since the class often lives or dies by how smoothly its effects chain together.

Where it drops in Season 14

In Season 14, the most useful place to farm Etna's Lost Dagger is Harbinger of Hatred's Hoard. That matters because it's not being treated like some random world drop you can stumble into while doing errands. You need to take on Harbinger of Hatred, open the hoard with a Greater Lair Key, and run it on any Torment difficulty. The boss is part of the Greater Lair tier, so yes, it's tougher than the easier bosses. But the payoff is better, and Rogue-specific items are clearly part of the reward pool. The dagger sits there alongside other Rogue gear, so if you're farming for a class build, this is the target that makes the most sense.

How Rogues are using it

What makes this item interesting is that it doesn't belong to one single setup. Flurry builds can make use of it, especially when you're leaning on effects like Caltrops to add another source of Non-Physical damage. Heartseeker setups can also slot it in as a dual-wield option, which is handy if you're trying to keep your Basic Skill loop relevant deep into endgame. That flexibility is the real selling point. You're not just chasing a shiny dagger because it has a Unique tag. You're chasing it because it changes how your rotation feels, and for Rogue, that's often where the fun is.

One thing worth keeping in mind is that this is still a farming target, not a guarantee. Season 14 boss loot can also roll Mythic variants, and that sounds exciting until you remember the crafting side can be a bit messy. If you're thinking about pushing materials around and trying your luck, it's probably smarter to keep your current weapon safe unless you're ready for whatever comes out. If you'd rather spend time playing than micromanaging the whole process, many players just farm the boss, check the hoard, and move on. Some even buy D4 Gold to smooth out the gearing grind, then focus on the runs that actually matter. That's usually the cleaner path when you're after a specific Rogue Unique like this one.
