Supporting Female Truck Drivers Through Menopause – What Are You Doing?
Quote from Julie C. on May 21, 2025, 1:59 pmHi everyone,
I am reaching out to see what others in the transport industry are doing to support female truck drivers who are going through menopause.
We are currently exploring ways to develop a support programme and would really value hearing from others—whether you have already implemented something or are just starting to think about it.
Here are a few things we’re curious about:
- Do you have any menopause-specific support initiatives in place for your drivers?
- What kind of feedback have you received from your team?
- Have you faced any challenges in rolling out support, and how did you address them?
- Have you made any changes to health and safety practices or vehicle ergonomics to help?
- Are you working with any external partners (e.g., health professionals, wellness providers)?
- What ideas or tools do you think should be standard across the industry?
I am keen to learn from others and share ideas—so if you have any insights, experiences, or resources, please jump in!
Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks for opening up this conversation, it’s definitely a topic that deserves attention...but I’ll offer a slightly different take if thats ok?
As a woman currently going through perimenopause, I don’t think we need a formal “programme”, policy changes or wellness providers to support us. What we do need though (sometimes) is flexibility and a bit of understanding. That includes use of sick leave when needed, the ability to maybe swap shifts or change duties if we're overtired / over emotional / have aching joints and for managers to not draw attention to us when we're having the dreaded flushes - just let us get on with it! Sometimes the best support is just not making things harder? If you can get your managers to understand that, that would be a huge tick in the box.
Hope that helps?
